It’s often hard to catch up with your work after you’ve been away. Whether it’s a three digit number of unread emails or a real-time chat conversation that makes it impossible to find out what went on while you were gone, you’re out of luck.
With Twist, it’s much easier. Here are some tips on how to catch up in Twist after you’ve been away from work.
Manage your Starred Conversations
Before your scheduled absence, revise your starred conversations and un-star the ones that are unessential. Star the ones that will be top priority for you to follow up on once you’re back. If you reduce your starred conversations to a manageable number, it will be easier for you to revise the progress of the important conversations, rather than having to sift through many updates from many different threads.
Manage your Channels
If you’re leaving for an extended period of time, you may want to only stay in the channels where you do direct work. That way, when you get back, you can dive deep into the channels that only matter to you, then rejoin the other channels after you’ve caught up.
Ensure you set Time Off
Twist was designed for you to fully disconnect while you’re away from work– that’s where the “Time Off” setting comes in. With Time Off in Twist, your avatar will be set to a new image depending on which type of absence you’ll be on and a note saying “away until” your return date will appear next to your name. You won’t receive any notifications until you’re back.
Because your teammates know that you’ll be away until a certain date, they’ll be less likely to address threads to you, which will help keep your Twist Inbox lean. They’ll know when to follow up with you and will be more respectful about not contacting you while you’re gone.
We suggest that team members post a thread about their time off in your team’s General channel, so that everyone knows that they will be away.
