How to use Twist and Todoist together

Using Twist with Todoist is an effective way to combine teamwork, communication and task management. If you're still unsure about integrating the two, read about the benefits of using Twist with Todoist.

Here are a few specific ways you can combine both tools in order to track your team’s tasks and conversations, and to make progress on your most important projects.

Convert conversations to actionable tasks

Many times, your conversations in Twist will result in actionable tasks. To keep track of these items in your to-do list, you can directly add a thread as a Todoist task from within Twist. Simply click the Todoist icon in the top right of any thread.

After clicking the icon, you will see the Todoist quick add window, and it will be automatically populated with a link to your current thread. You can edit the task as usual, as well as assign it to a project or set a due date. Click Add Task and the item will immediately appear in your Todoist app with a link back to the thread.

If you’re using Todoist for team task management, you can easily delegate threads to your teammates as tasks.

First, create a shared Todoist project and invite the teammates with whom you’d like to collaborate. Now, when you convert a Twist thread into a Todoist task, you’ll be able to select the assignee immediately in the Quick Add prompt by typing + and selecting the user from the list.

Improve team accountability with in-thread Todoist updates

Teamwork involves many moving parts. When working with both Todoist and Twist, you can get instant updates from your team’s to-do list inside your Twist workspace. This helps ensure that your whole team is always on the same page and accountable for what needs to get done.

First, you’ll need to connect Twist to Todoist. When setting up this integration, you’ll be prompted to select a Todoist project and a Twist channel into which you’ll stream your team’s updates.

Once you’ve connected the Todoist project with the Twist thread, you’ll start to see new messages in Twist when your team adds, completes, un-completes or comments on tasks inside the specified Todoist project. You’ll be able to see who completed which action, and will be able to immediately revisit the task in Todoist by clicking the link in the Twist thread.

Here are a few examples of how the Todoist-Twist integration looks.
